If Nordstrom at the posh Natick Collection is too rich for shoppers, they can head down the street to the fashion retailer’s discount concept, starting next year.
Nordstrom Inc. said yesterday it will open an offprice Nordstrom Rack at Shoppers World in Framingham, located a half-mile down Route 9 from the Natick mall.
The 40,159-square-foot store is expected to open in spring 2010 in the former Linens ’n Things space. It will be the second Nordstrom Rack in Massachusetts for the company, which opened the first at Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers last fall.
The Rack sells upscale clothing and shoes for women, men and children at 30 percent to 70 percent off original prices. The merchandise comes from the company’s full-price Nordstrom stores and Web site and also includes items purchased especially for the discount retailer. “We are fortunate to have a lot of great customers in the Boston market, and we look forward to serving them with a second Nordstrom Rack at Shoppers World,” Scott Meden, president of Nordstrom Rack, said in a statement. “The center has a wide range of retailers and is an exceptional location.”
Nordstrom has been on a store-opening tear in Massachusetts, debuting its first full-price department store at the Natick Collection in September 2007, followed by stores at Burlington Mall last year and Northshore Mall in Peabody this year. A fourth Nordstrom will open in March at South Shore Plaza in Braintree.
