Frog Pond skating to begin this week

Associated Press / November 15, 2010

It’s time to dig out the skates, as Boston gets ready to open its popular outdoor ice rink. Opening ceremonies at the Boston Common Frog Pond are scheduled for Thursday evening and will include a show featuring former Olympian Emily Hughes, among others. The Skating Club of Boston was recently tapped by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to operate the Frog Pond. The rink will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The cost is $4 for skaters 14 and older, no charge for those younger than 14. Skate rentals and lessons are available.
